NSO is required for all new students in order to make sure you successfully transition to campus. If you have personal limitations that prevent you from completing your NSO requirement, email orientation@charlotte.edu with your name, 801# and detailed information on why you are seeking a program exemption. Please know that limited program exemptions are granted.

It is highly recommended that you change your major as quickly as possible, and that you do so in advance of your completion of the New Student Modules. Your modules contain important academic information needed prior to Virtual Advising & Registration, so changing your major in advance ensures that you receive the correct information for your advising and registration process. Request a major change via your Future 49er Portal.

There are a few reasons that you may have a hold on your account.

  • New Student Orientation Hold: This hold will be released within 24 hours of the completion of your New Student Modules.
  • Advising Hold: After completing your New Student Modules, you must complete virtual advising with your academic college to lift the Advising Hold. More information will be available in your modules.
  • Undergraduate Admissions (UA) Hold: If you have this hold, you may need to submit additional documentation required by the University. Questions about UA holds can be directed to admissions@charlotte.edu.
