Summer 1 Students

Are you starting your UNC Charlotte courses in Summer 1? Then you’ve come to the right page to learn about your orientation requirements.

TWO-STEP PROCESS

Summer 1 students complete a two-step process in order to get enrolled at Charlotte:

  • Self-enroll and complete your New Student Modules
  • Schedule your virtual academic advising appointment and register for classes

STEP 1: NEW STUDENT MODULES

To get started, head to your Future 49er Portal to access your New Student Orientation Portal. Once in the NSO Portal, click the button to self-enroll in your New Student Modules.

Your New Student Modules cover important content, including:

  • Getting to know your new campus
  • Learning about opportunities to get connected
  • Introducing you to Charlotte academics
  • Covering mandatory campus safety information (Niners Know)
  • Preparing for academic advising

You are strongly encouraged to complete your modules before your virtual academic advising appointment.

STEP 2: VIRTUAL ADVISING & CLASS REGISTRATION

Now it’s time to schedule your first academic advising appointment!

Follow these steps:

  • In your NSO Portal, find the section listing advising availability.
  • Using the calendar on the left, click on an available date that works best for you.
  • On the right side, click the title of the event (e.g., Virtual Group Advising) to be taken to the registration form.
  • Complete the form and click submit to register for the appointment. You will receive a confirmation email to your UNC Charlotte account.
  • More information on your appointment, including any Zoom links, will be sent via email closer to your appointment.

After you complete your advising appointment, your Advising Hold will lift, and you will register for classes! Check out Niner Central for steps to register and additional resources.
